The mission of The Greenfluencers has always been simple yet urgent: to remove barriers preventing youth from underserved urban communities in Delhi from engaging in urban greening advocacy and action. We aim to build a generation of young environmental leaders equipped with knowledge, practical skills, and resources for community-led greening.
With research and education as our starting point, we performed extensive research in 2025 and created a complete handbook that describes community-led methods and urban greening techniques to help students begin their studies in this field. The students will eventually participate in a nature walk at a local green area, to connect with the local wildlife and understand the importance of preserving it; while learning about the crucial role played by green spaces in enhancing urban environments. The youth and community members will also participate in a community clean-up drive, learning how cleaner, greener environments can change public spaces, even at small scales.
The project also aims to gather funds to help its NGO partner implement more green initiatives, such as native plantings and the establishment of small green areas at their facility and surrounding areas. Alongside these, the podcast series released by the project would focus on urban greening and sustainable urban planning, integrating expert knowledge and successful Global South solutions that demonstrate how communities can implement scalable solutions. The Greenfluencers project seeks to develop specific community projects that propel cities toward becoming more environmentally friendly, while providing local youth from economically disadvantaged areas access urban greening educational materials. These resources will support their development as future environmental guardians, empowering them to become agents who will build climate resistance capacity and create healthy spaces.
